05 Oct Treat Dizziness With Physical Therapy
Suffering From Dizziness?
Work with a physical or occupational therapist, and decrease your dizziness and get back to doing the things you love.
Feeling dizzy is a common reason to visit a therapy clinic, with approximately 40 percent of the population experiencing dizziness at some point in their life. For a majority of people, feeling dizzy is not caused by serious pathology and can be readily treated by a physical or occupational therapist.
Recent studies indicate that people with dizziness often experience quicker improvements in the short term and long term in areas such as equilibrium, balance and perceived recovery when working with a therapist.
Treatment for dizziness from a physical or occupational therapist may include eye exercises, balance activities, manual therapy, and education about what can cause you to feel dizzy. You’ll also receive a home exercise program to empower you to self-manage.
At TRIO, our physical therapy treatment plan starts with an exam. We’ll ask about symptoms and medications and check how you walk and maintain your balance. We’ll also monitor and pay close attention to dangerous signs of dizziness, including significant changes in headache frequency/intensity, changes in vision, speech or the ability to swallow, or significant nausea and vomiting.
